I suspect that your sound is disabled in BIOS, I can't get to the information at Dell site, you need the serial tag, the best thing to do is go to Dell site and search for how to enter BIOS and check if sound is enabled. It is usally in Advanced options.

With reference to Plug and Play look at this and see what tumbleweed says about plug and Play. http://www.cbttechs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2321

Hope this helps

First create a System Restore Point just in case

It's an exe file, just double click and follow the instructions, there will probularly be none, this type of file installs it's self. You may get a dialogue box pop up saying there could be problems installing, just give permission to go ahead.

Hope this helps

If you need to get drivers for your system go to Intel site,http://www.intel.com/index.htm?iid=H...Header_UShome&
your system is listed as D865PERL.under Download and Drivers select Desktop then Chipset and scroll down to D865PERL. The link to all your drivers is below.

Create a System Restore Point just in case

Go here to get your driver it is No: 4 Audio : ADI 1985 http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

If sound does not work, you will have to go back and download No:5 the INF- Intel chipset driver, install and then install the sound driver again. The best way to go is to save these files in a place where you can easily find them. They are both exe. files just double click them they will install automatocally.

hope this helps

Create a System Restore Point just in case

Go here to get your driver http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us

On the left under General Download enter the following
1. Select Product > Motherboard
2. Select Series > Socket 478
3. Select Model > scroll down to P4P800E-Deluxe
Click Search > Drivers Tab>
Sound driver is first in list a ALC 850 Avance AC'97

Choose a download site.

Hope this helps
