VPN error #619 with no router present
I have a WinXP workstation that is giving me fits when attempting to authenticate a RRAS (VPN) connection with a Win2k server.
For the sake of bench-testing, there is no router present. The server and two test workstations all exist on the same subnet (192.168.0.x) and on the same switch. Workstation “A” is a Win2K workstation and successfully authenticate with the VNC server. However the WinXP workstation, using the same username and password and the same VNC client configurations and settings, cannot connect. I repeatedly receive error #619. Sometimes I get error #721.
Any and all information I have found regarding a problem such as this instructs me to make changes on my router to forward port #1723 and to enable Protocol #47 (GRE). However, in my configuration, no router exists and yes, for the sake of testing, I disabled the XP firewall to no avail…
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you!
Chris
