Windows XP Not starting!

Anyone ever seen this before. Last night I'm on my computer and everything is all okay until windows freezes...I figure nothing to bad, just restart it up. Well....that didnt happen...my computer now will not load windows except in safe mode and it will only do it in "safe mode with network (cant remember the last word)". Basically, what it will do is begin going to windows, even get to the point where it has the pale blue background that says "windows is loading" then for about a millisecond you see the blue screen of death pop up showing some sort of error which is unreadable because it does not stay up long enough to read it, then the computer cycles right back to the beginning again and it will continue to keep cycling back and forth to the opening screen where it says "COMPAQ" in big red letters to just before it reaches windows...it clearly is trying to start up but something is not letting it. For the record it is a Presario 2700 from early 2001. I am unfortunately without 1 of my recovery disks now since my labrador ate it a fe weeks back...anyone know if I can contact HP/Compaq and request these 4 year old disks, and if those will even solve my problem?

first of all what were you doing on the computer at the time like install programs, muck around with stuff ect.. and try system restore. When u start up your computer Hold F8 then wait until the screen comes up with choices. Select "Last known good configeration" and see if that will get you there. If not get it repaired at a computer place or find some more help on the net.

apatosaurus237 your reply is not in the spirit of this forum.

Go here to HP site it gives information on getting recovery discs.
