Anybody Knows about Installing Win XP Eng. Ver. on a German PC?

Hi, everyone. My pc is a secondhand called Webboy from an Austrian manufacturer called Gericom. Not the best one in the whole world. Had absolutely no idea about pc's! Since my Windows ME is German OS, the Microsoft told me that in order to upgrade the pc with English language, I had to clean the German ME away and install an English OS. So I've decided to purchase Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 with English language, but the company hasn't replied to me yet. Therefore I cannot be 100% sure if it would be alright to proceed the installation of English XP on the machine. However, receiving no reply yet, I still want to be doing somethin. Maybe, I want to at least find out how the next step would look like... So here I am. Can you teach me how to uninstall ME and install XP HE SP2 on a pc generally? Plus, that would be really great in case somebody knew about installing English OS on a German pc. Anyway this is the first installation of an OS since I got the German pc four years ago so will definitely need some help from you! Please help! Thanks in advance!!!

I doubt the German/English thing will be a problem. Go here for step by step info on how to do a clean install of xp. It is not too complicated.

Thanks everybody. I can really understand. Actually, that's how I was thinking first, too and I'm glad to hear it wasn't possible to uninstall the German OS and then install the English one on the German pc. The way that Gericom answers this kind of simple question REAL slow has made me start worrying. But I'm really glad to hear from you here. It would make me happier though, if I didn't have to purchase the whole OS but just an upgrade version to upgrade it which would be a lot cheaper. Well, maybe that would be different? But anyway, thanks for your help!

Hi,

of course you can install an engl. XP on a german PC. BUT you can´t update a geman XP with an english version. You will get an error message and the installation will abort. So you have to buy a full versin of XP.
