Outlook Express Email Icon - gone

Guys and Gals,

I get a lot of email. I like to have the little "You've got mail" icon appear in my tray on the bottom left next to the clock (in XP). But if I "Customize Notifications" with the "Hide Inactive Icons" checked, I get no more new mail icon. I have the new mail icon set to "hinde when inactive", which means to me, "hide this icon when you do not have new mail", but it doesn't work like that, it's always hidden, and I have to expand the hidden icons tray to see if I have new mail.

Does anyone else use OE and XP and use the new mail icon? How do you have it set up?

have you tried changing the new mail icon back from hide when inactive? i personally dont like hiding inactive icons, but this is a personal preference. i think, if we are talking about the same icon, that it only pops up when you have new mail and only serves as a notification. thus it would not be running an application, and would be classified as inactive. I guess.
