Audio cd's not recognised by DVD\cd rom drives.

Hello, I am a Win xp pro user, i do not use fire walls or virus protection programs, Here's my problem, both of
my dvd/cd drives, recognise dvd's + cd roms but not my
audio cd's. the first time i place an audio cd in to
either drive(which is not set to auto play but to prompt)
it is read as a cd rom, the icon changes to that of a cd
rom (and not that of an audio cd) and when i try to open
the cd i get an error message saying "incorrect function".
However the second time i insert the same audio cd it is
then read as an audio cd (and prompts me) and functions correctly, unless i insert a new audio cd and i have to re insert that one twice before it is recognised properly and so on and so
forth.
As it is both drives that have this problem i am certain it is not a hardware problem and i have followed all the trouble shooters relating to this (i think).
I would realy appreciate any suggestions, it's driving me
crazy, Thanks

Are these shop-bought standard audio CD's (Albums) , or audio CDR's cut from another system?

Change the setting back to have it start as a music cd and I bet your problem goes away.................

Thanks for responding but i'm not sure what "setting" you are refering to? do you mean the prompts?( whather or not when you insert a cd if it does a selected action or presents a list of options) if you do i have tried it on all its settings and it still doesn't make a difference, could you please let me know if this is what you mean or not, thanks again.
