REALLY dumb question:: but how do I make the icons on a XP home desktop one click. I've looked everywhere (but not in the right place ) Please set me straight.

Hi, you can do the following but it will apply to all files on your computer, not just desktop icons:

Open My Computer and click on "Tools" the select "Single-click to open an item"-->Apply-->OK.

Hehe. As you found though, thinking too hard can sometimes actually create problems.
