Network Icon Appears After Hibernation

Lately, when I return my computer from overnight hibernation, there's a new icon in my taskbar indicating a problem with my network connection. However, there's nothing wrong with my network connection. I connect to the Internet just fine, send and receive email. In order to get rid of the icon I have to go to Network Connections where the Local Area Connection is showing that it's looking for a network address, right-click on Local Area Connection, click on Disable, wait a second for the Status to change to Disabled, click on Enable, wait a second for the Status to change to Enabled, and then the taskbar network problem icon disappears. It only happens when in hibernation for a long period of time, like overnight. If I hibernate the computer for like fifteen or twenty minutes, it doesn't happen. Can somebody tell me what's causing this strange behavior? Thanks.

Try this:
1. Right-click LAN connection icon in Control Panel/Network Connections and choose 'Properities'
2. Click 'Configure'
3. Click the 'Power Management' tab.
4. Disable (UNtick) the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

NIC Power Mgt

Thanks very much. I had previously (many moons ago) gone into those settings to disallow my NIC from awaking my computer during hibernation and at that time the 'allow .. to save power' item was not ticked. Somewhere along the line recently something affected that setting somehow. Haven't a clue as to what (gremlins maybe). Anyway, thanks for reminding me of those settings. That should do it.
