Since no-one seems to have a fix for you, see the following link on "How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile":

If you have a volume licence from M$ [eg,already installed on the computer] it may have been disabled by them due to piracy problem they had/have. See if yours is on this list. [there may be others too]

If it is, or if you are just having problems anyway you can do it by phone. I'm guessing you are in the US so you could find the nearest number to you here.... http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/info...s/default.mspx

Log on as a limited account user. Close all windows and goto C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer. Right click the Internet Explorer icon and choose "Run As". Choose the second radio button "The Following User". Try using your administrator credentials to log in (eg ComputerName\administrator and the password).

Now... only that window that opens up the browser will will have the same privileges as the administrator. In the address bar of that window type "C:\" and press Enter. Next either choose the drop down arrow next to the address bar and choose Control Panel OR click the "Folders" button on the top bar and search for the "Control Panel" under the "My computer" tree. Then goto the "user accounts" or "Administrative Tools --> Computer Management" to give one of the other users administrative privileges (whichever one you use to change permissions with - depends on how XP is set up or what version you have). Now you can wipe out the corrupt profile if you want.

To make a long story short, Run an Internet Explorer with admin privileges, goto the Control Panel in that same window, and administer your computer.
