Outlook wont connect to the internet

hi guys, i have a strange problem.

My aunt colled me to take a look at a problem with here e-mail. Because she couldn't send o receive andy files. when i tried tocheck my mail on here account of outlook express it worked fine, ( it's a html hotmail account). but when i tried my pop3 gmail account it didn't work, same as here gmail account and hetnet account. which is a pop3 too. i know the ssl settings for pop3 and smtp are on and on the right value, and i checked the firewall but nothing seemes wrong. but when i send/receive mails outlook gives an error when trying to connectto the host.

the internet works just fine, and outlook express settings are copied from internet, same as in outlook.. both don't work

so firewall is switched off. still the same problem.
ran a virussacan and antispyscan. deleted some malwhare nothing serious i guess. still no difference

Hi,

there are 2 main reasons why outlook doesnt work even if you have everything set up as usual:

# Damaged file attributes and locations
# Corrupted or incomplete registry settings

Yes. Tell your Aunt to use web-based email. Far, far safer, IMO. And, for the record, never turn a firewall off that is connected to the internet.

Hi, I have the same problem and I'm stumped after spending days on this. Additional information: My email programs (using Outlook but OE will also not connect) were working on new Sony VAIO notebook for a few weeks then just stopped out of the blue. I tried gmail and it will not retrieve mail, either. I've deleted all accounts and re-entered them. I set up another computer with the same settings and it loads my emails without any problems. Once in a while Outlook will retrieve emails from two accounts only and then if I hit send/receive it will not connect immediately after. Did you get any info on your problem? If anyone has any other ideas please help! I'm tired!

P.S. I have internet connection (broadband).

hmm turns out the provider had some issues.. called them.. they claimed there was no problem.. next day they posted the same problem on their website

hmm they probably had more than 1 person having the same problem, lol thats crazy and not very etic but your problem is gonne furtunatly
