Help Formatting

I need to format my computer. My OS is winxp pro but i want to get windows 2000. My computer is really messed. I can't open half my programs and its realyl really slow all of a sudden. Is there a good easy to understand site that will go step by step on formatting? What would i need to format? Windows 2000 cd? And how exactly do i do it plz help. Thanks

Boot your PC with the CD XP or W2000 in the CDROM driver.
Follow the instruction to install windows
Choose the 'format' option

im getting more gigs for my comp so the guy thats donig it for me will format it.

Nivethan, XP is most likely not the problem, as it's the best OS around. I think you picked something up. If you already haven't, get protected with an anti virus and firewall. Both can be had for free.
