Windows Explorer Crashing

Just recently WE has been crashing on me.

Two things generally happen......

One, I'll put my cursor over a file, usually a video file, and I'll get an application error and I click debug......WE crashes!

Two, I'll open either the My Music or My Videos file and I get the Windows Explorer Has Experienced A Problem And Needs To Shut Down...WE crashes!

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated....Thanks!

Sounds like OS corruption, pop your XP cd in the rom drive, go to start>run and type in sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and the /) this will replace any corrupt os files

sounds like the explorer preview issue to me, which will often crash with large media files and or files that are less then perfect IE corrupt or incomplete

to disable this feature just go to start/run and type "regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll" (with out the quotes)

Thumbs up

I have tried many things on what other forum said about WindowsExplorer crashing and WMP 11 crashing and nothing worked(get rid of xvid codec of wmp 11 and put wmp 10, fix this with that etc,etc..).Rumrak your advice work perfectly, it was the explorer preview issue.

I disable it and Voilą!

Merci!
Thank you Rumak!
