Compaq Edition, Help!

HEY, I bought a compaq laptop and its quite slow... i noticed it with my packard bell desktop untill i installed my own copy of xp pro, Can you tell me if its true that compaq and packard bell editions etc... are full of usless rubbish that make it slow? the only things i see are compaq drivers, Ive tried installing a fresh copy on my laptop but my wirelss network doesnt work.. even if i download the drivers! lol

once again... my question is...
