Angry Sound Issue {Don't have any}

[b]Hi All,

The Subject says it all, I dont have sound on my WinXP system! I have a Sony system. I have tried everything I know to get it back, i.e. Install updates for all drivers; replaced speakers; general system maintenance; and finall reinstalled a ner virgin syste., all to no avail.

I WOULD REALLY! appreciate is anyone has any other ideas or suggestions. Thanks in advance.

First off, do you have a sound card or onboard sound (ac97)? If you have onboard, check in bios to make sure it is enabled. If you have a sound card installed and you have reinstalled/upgraded drivers, then I suggest replacing the sound card. Also make sure your card is seated properly and look for loose connections.

I have an installed Sony sound card. Yes, I have checked the Bios and it was enabled. I kinda suspected it was the sound card but was not totally sure. Thanks for the information and help beeboy.

Tech at store felt that the sound card was okay. I will wait for some additional information before I spend the big Sony bucks for a new one.

Based on your latest, when responding to on-board sound, you replied "Yes, I have checked the Bios and it was enabled." I would recommend disabling you on-board sound. There is most likely a conflict between them.
