Exclamation new-2-me xp system--HELP 2 change owner & network with old system???

I have a new-2-me xp system (home edition--no cd, came loaded)which I need some help with.

I set up an account as an administrator, and *thought* I'd deleted the 2 origional users--but "Ray" is still listed as "owner" and all documents, etc...still go to *his* files!...how can I change this to *me*, instead?

Second: My old system has ME on it, and as there are programs it has, which will NOT run on the xp, how do I "NETWORK" these to run 'in-tandem' (don't know what it's called in teck-speak)?? Both systems have ethernet cards.

Thanks---need to get moving on some home-office stuff, and this is holding me back!

Hey goody1006,

You need to create a new user name for yourself with Administrative rights....and then delete the other user "RAY" or "Owner"....after that when you log in, everything will go to your profile.

In regards to Windows Me system......if you have network card in both computers then all you need is to network them through a network switch ......if you have board band Internet access then you may want to connect them as such

Incoming Line to->High Speed Modem==then==->Switch or a router==-> connect the other two computers to different ports on the router switch.

That should allow you to transfer file between the two systems.

Cheers

...that's what I did--so, now I'm confused!

Snowmonkey--
that's what I did initally--made myself an account as admn, and deleted the 2 origional ones on the system---but somehow, that didn't remove the origional owner from the system!....so, now I'm really confused!

Although both systems have the ethernet cards--I only have access to dial-up, as we're out in the boonies, so networking thru broad-band won't work for this---any other way to do this?

thanks--
