Unable to logon - Win XP

I know its a bad idea to tinker with the registry, unless absolutely necessary and unless you know absolutely well what you're doing but fact is , i happened to delete some registry keys .... i have no idea if there is a backup of the registry or not

When I restarted my laptop, XP does load up...but I get a logon box.... It used to boot up and display the desktop directly, with no need for me to enter a user name or password....and it does not allow me to log on...its only me who uses the laptop...so there aren't any other user accounts set up. How do I get past this ???

Whats worse is that the keys "m" & "o" on the laptops keyboard seem to display "0" and "6" when I click them.....

I'm never, never, never, never going to mess with the registry again....PLeeeeasae help me

Take a look at this from M$, if you can get to Safe Mode with Command prompt, you can do a System Restore http://support.microsoft.com/default...304449&sd=tech
all instructions are given.

Hope this helps

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
Im going to try this out first thing once I get back home.

Just another question ..Do I have to re-install XP?? I don't have the CDs for installation...but my laptop is still under Acer's warranty....It would be painful to lose all the data on the laptop.

No you will not have to reinstall, it works just as if you restore from within Windows.
