Another Strange Log-in/Log-out problem
Hello!
First I am going to give you the short version of my story. Perhaps there is a simple fix.
My System:
HP Pavillion zv5000 laptop
O/S Windows XP (I think it is home edition)
The problem:
When I shut the lid to my laptop, it goes into standby which I want. Before this problem, when I opened the screen, it would ask me to log in. I would enter my password.
Now, when I come out of standby, I go to the log in screen but it says my account is still running. It also mentions if I have any programs running or any e-mail. I don't want this.
How do I get it to go back to the old way?
How I got to this problem:
It all started by upgrading my router. Before I upgraded, I was running on an unsecure router. I changed my SSID name and password. I disabled broadcasting the SSID. I enabled MAC filtering so the router will only accept my laptop. I also enabled WPA2 password protection to the router.
After that, I had a problem with VPN (Virtual Personal Networking). I didn't have any other networks to connect to and under advice of others, I deleted it because it kept trying to connect to a VPN that didn't exist.
Another thing I did was signed up for Microsoft Passport.
Sorry to be so long winded, but I wanted to give you guys as much info I could provide from when this problem started.
Any advice? I've run spyware and AV programs. I've done disk clean. I even did the Microsoft Live protection and they all came out fine. I'm stuck ladies and gentlemen.
