Thumbnail tool tips

Have a strange problem that i haven't been able to solve.

Recently reformatted my primary hard drvie - since then the pop up tool tips that you get when you hover your mouse over a photo thumbnail doesn't work on jpg files.

They work on RAW files, every other type of file - just not jpeg files.

I checked out my laptop - and the tool tips work on jpegs there - including the same photos copied across.

the folder view settings are the same on both the laptop & PC

Having over 12,000 photos, I find the pop up descriptions useful for finding photos quickly (I put descriptions on each one).

Very annoying - Microsoft has no solution - another reformat perhaps?

Grateful for any ideas.
