Windows Explorer changes dates on folders all the time!

I use XP Pro w/SP1, and one thing that really bugs me is the folder-management.

I.e., everytime I copy or move a folder from one drive to another, the new folder gets the current time, not the original time. And in the same fashion, everytime I edit something within a folder (like un-RAR files), XP changes the date of the folder to the current time.

Any explanation to this behaviour? Anything I can do to prevent it, and have Explorer stop changing dates? I *really* wanna know.
