Internet Explorer & Firefox annoying problem: I need some help!

I've been having this annoying problem for several months now with Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox and cannot find a way to resolve this problem...so if anyone knows...please help me.

1. I used to use Spybot Spyware & Adaware to run searches every once in a while to clean up some spyware on my laptop. One time, I accidentally erased a file or so that came up on the scan. I don't know what it was but after I erased it....browsing the web is little bit different.

2. Now when I get onto Internet or Firefox....I can browse the web just fine. The only problem is that I cannot view any of the jpg, pictures, etc. on the web or any advertisement. For example, when I get on Yahoo.com, I cannot see the Yahoo logo on top of the search bar. All I see is a red X mark where the Yahoo logo is. I don't see any ad pictures in Yahoo shopping, I don't see any ad pictures in Marketplace....just the red X marks.

Anyone know what's going on??? This is the same if I used the Firefox browser. I have scanned my computer many times with Norton....but no sign of any virus. Laptop is working fine....just that minor annoying problem.

You could try in Internet Options[via Tools in IE]/Advanced/Multimedia/turn off place-holders/turn on show pictures.
Also, you could try using the backups that were made by Spybot and AdAware or even try a System Restore to an earlier date when all was ok.

Thank you for your reply FAB Scott. I have however uninstalled the Spybot and Adaware since then and do not have a system restore point to where I had no problem. Do you have any other suggestion?

This happens sometimes because of pop-up blockers, so you could try temporarily disabling any you have just while you test it.
