Is it possible to copy current O/S and use on another computer?

Hi, wondering if possible to copy my current O/S which is XP pro onto a CD and use on my other computer which has no O/S as yet. If so how can it be done?
Cheers Kim.

This can be done but it would still require a XP Pro installation cd.

It's too large to copy onto cd but you can use a duplication program to make a copy of your drive. Either way you will still need an installation cd since xp installations are specific to each machine. The registry keys will not match the hardware so chances are you won't be able to boot without repairing the installation. (This is where the installation cd comes in.)

If you do have the cd let me know and i'll give you instructions on how to do this.

Since an XP CD is required, I see little point in trying to transfer from one PC to another. As you say, incompatible device drivers and registry errors would leave you with the unenviable task of trying to sort it out, and XP is much less tolerant of being 'moved' than previous versions of Windows. Installing from scratch from the XP CD on to the other PC would avoid all that.
