Multimedia Audio Controller Not Working

HI,

After installing Windows XP professional on my computer, the audio driver is not working and no sound is coming out of my computer. I tried to download the AC97 audio driver from realtek but it still didn't work.

When I went to Intel's website to download my chipset and audio drivers, there were a lot of boards to choose from for my 845GL chipset. I can't seem to locate the correct chipset. Can someone help me find the correct audio and chipset driver for my computer?

Here are the specifications for my computer:

Chipset: 845GL

Operating System: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

System Model:
HP Pavilion 05 DC424A-ABA 503X 2001211RE101IMPER
System Serial Number: MX247B6498 NA800
Enclosure Type: Other

Processor:
1.80 gigahertz Intel Celeron
8 kilobyte primary memory cache
128 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Main Circuit Board:
Board: Intel Corporation NBGV - Northwood/Brookdale-G Validation Board
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies 3.24 10/14/2003

Memory Modules:
120 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot 'J5G3' is Empty
Slot 'J5G2' has 128 MB

Thanks

Nga

Set a System Restore Point before installing each driver just in case

Go here to Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...5&submit=Go%21

First download and install No: 4 - INF Update Utility ( INFINST.EXE ) then restart your comp

Then go here to get the AC'97 Audio dDriver http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

Your comp is a Pavilion 503X

Hope this helps

I've tried that and it didn't seem to work.

Is there an alternative solution?

There are no audio drivers for the consumers to download on the HP website. They told us to go the manufacturer that made the audio driver or to the mainboard manufacturer that embedded the audio driver into the computer.
