This is strictly in response to this above-mentioned problem because I had the exact same thing happen to me. I tried a bunch of recovery programs because I thought that the account had been erased when, in fact, it hadn't. It was simply "in limbo" (for lack of a better term). I logged onto my account once and it didn't log me on correctly (this has happened before) and I logged off and tried again. But instead of waiting for the account to log me back on, I restarted the computer by holding down the power button. The same thing that happened to lildudeinacar happened to me. But later when I tried logging onto my account and going to "my documents," even though it redirected me to "C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP", I was able to delete the "TEMP" part in the address bar (obviously you must have this function enabled from "folder options") and plug in my xp account name. To my pleasant surprise my files showed up. It's weird because I'm unable to search for these files (even though they're not hidden) and, again, I can't simply click on my documents to view them. Also, doing this did not work from other accounts, even when they had administrative rights. I must add, as well, that my ability to view hidden files and some other functions (such as access to programs I installed under this account) were disabled, but at least my files were still there and perfectly in tact!
