Posted this on Win2000 section but gonna try something different.
Trying to install XP on a laptop with two hd, C: and D:. Error- no hard disks drives found. Laptop has no floppy drive. So, can't do fdisk. Heres something I can do. type dir, which shows directory of c:. Can't type in the stuff thats showing dir right now, if anyone wants to see them let me know. I'm thinking theres a way to do something to fix the pc. Any ideas? Oh, I don't know how the problem occured, I wansn't there and they just can't explain what happened, know what I mean?

first make sure the HDD are detected by the bios.

If the bios sees the hdd boot with XP cd on get into the recovery console. use Diskpart, XP's program for fdisk.
