Can anyone tell why when I download an image like a .jgp the image will not appear, I get a small red X (in a box) in the upper left corner of where the image would appear?

There are many reasons that can happen. Does it always happen or just occasionally?

I'm assuming you mean it doesn't appear in your browser when going to a site.

If the problem hasn't always been there (and you haven't changed any Internet Explorer Settings) you could reset the Internet Explorer Defaults.

When you see red X, it means the image is missing from the website server.

You really can't do anything.

It does not the red X, but instead the correct image place holder

Thank you guys for all the responses.

As additional information I may say that the information bar in the bottom of the browser stays with the following legend: "(11 item remaining) Downloading picture".

I understand that this means its downloading picture and I let 60 minutes pass by and keeps staying there with no progress...

Have you tried Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 SP1 Update: Image Files Do Not Appear When You View a Web Page with Internet Explorer 6 SP1?

Also, are you using Internet Explorer 6? (What ever the version, have a look at this link from Microsoft.com)

Do you have any ad-blocking software or any software that has ad-blocking features (like Norton Internet Security)?
