It's like I said I'm not familiar with dual booting, and this problem has been on the forum before, have a word with the guys on the site I linked you to, they are more familiar with adjusting system settings. Vista is not like XP it appears it does not like to share.Have a look in the Vista forum.

oh yea, when i tried to download the realtek ac'97 audio, it said that
''continuing your installation of this software may impair or destrabilize the correct operation of ur system either immediate or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the software vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing.''
so should i continue the installation or just stop it??

i've just checked with microsoft and as a result, i've found out that your computer crashes when you run a program that uses sound if your system uses a Realtek AC'97 Audio device with Windows XP .. your computer might crash unexpectedly when running a program with sound .. so i think that realtek wouldnt work for users with windows xp

If you are sure it is Realtek audio then install but
SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

Realtek are onboard audio not a soundcard, Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates. Then I can be sure as to what your audio is
