No Sounnd

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.and also in my sound and audio devices it says no audio device what shall i do?this has been goin on forr weeks and tryin to fix hellpp

Is your audio built in to the motherboard or is it a separate add-on card? If it's an add-on, you might try changing PCI slots on the motherboard. I recently had a modem problem that completely went away after changing slots.
