Question How do I permanently remove Windows Media player?

Did a search on this forum, didn't find anything helpful.
I am running windows XP and installed windows media 9, after trying and testing it out, I decided I will just stick with either Windows Media 7 or the little windows movie player.

I already removed it from Windows components and deleted the program folder but it keeps poping up. Any way to down grade or permanently remove guys?

THx

Why would you want to remove WMP? I upgraded to WMP 9 and I love it. I don't use any other media player at all.
