Exclamation Partition Problems

Ok, so I got a new(to me) desktop and when I went to reformat everything so I can start new I find something interesting. I was trying to make just one partition with the full 30GB drive. Unfortunatly the previous owner has created what appears to be two seperate drives. When I go through a CD boot of XP and get to the point where I create new partitions three is one of 19093 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi. then another below that with 12983 MB Disk 0 at ID 1 on bus 0 on atapi.

My question is how can I change it so that there is just one large partition? I have gotten it so that the previous C: and D: partitions have been removed but I'm stuck here with these two things. Any help would be nice!!

I'm not sure exactly how you're doing, it but you should be able to highlight each partition, and then hit like D or L or something to delete the partition. Once you have deleted both the partitions, you'll have one large amount of unpartitioned space. Then you should be able to highlight that, and then select the option to creat a partition with that space. Then you'll format that space and on you go.

Yea, except I have like 2 seperate disk "Id" positions. I can format each of the 2 sections seperatly but not to make it one big disk id slot.

Here's a rough sketch of what it looks like when I go through the XP setup boot disk style.

Are you sure that there is only one drive in this machine? The numbers don't add up.
If all else fails, download the disk utility from the hard drive mfg.
After that, "Zero" the drive, and you'll be good to go.

Ok, this is stupid. I contacted the previous owner with the problem and he had just "forgot" about adding a second drive to the comp. Aparently the original 20GB drive got used up and he put a second 13GB drive in and put on Windows 98 onto that too! So I said forget it and will be removing both drives to put in a new 80GB Western Digital drive. Thanks for the help that was given!
