problems
ok so heres whats going on. I've wiped my harddrive in an attempt to clear my comp of any files that may be f'n up my install of the nvidia 7950 gt. with a fresh start i figure i can eliminate soe problems and have a clean slate at which to curse at my computer. In my device manager there are a few problems, which may be from me not installing current drivers/ me not able to find them. 1. there is no monitor or display adapter(in other words it isn't recognizing my card ight now and my monitor is "default" in display settings) 2. multimedia control has a yellow ! (no big deal prolly a audio driver im missing) 3. this is the one i think is affecting my video card from working but im not sure bc i suck at this VIA cpu to AGP controller also has a yellow ! and im starting to think that my bios screen is not set up properly with the default so if you could tell me what i need to change in bios let me know. I assume your gonna need to see everest or belarc but let me know bc i have to redownload tehm from the hard drive wipe i did. If u can fix this problem bookworm you'll have done what 4 others couldn't so far and 3 are "professionals" . I also will be contacting biostar about their PITA motherboard and seeing what they say. Thanks for any help u can give.

This is the Video driver for your Thinkpad A31p http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...&validate=true
Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case

The board has an AGP slot, so a graphics card could be installed, do ypo plug your monitor into the I/O plate, see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQzgQ39ovZY
or much nearer the bottom of the tower in an exspansion slot

Yeah I found that file while i was searching through, downloaded it, and when i got to installation, it said it couldn't detect any devices that it was looking for. Well thats not right. So i get a copy of a program called Driver Genious Professional. Used that to update, and it worked nicely. But then it updated my soundcard driver, and now THAT wont work. Ive tried uninstalling, reinstalling, trying to update ect. but i'd just like to try and get my old driver back, but it wont let me roll back because it hasnt got any files on it.
Creative SB PCI128 (Ensoniq ES5880) sound card.
You knowledgeable in this area?
thanks
