Multimedia Audio Controller Problem

Hello. A few days ago, I decided to run Disc Cleanup on my computer. I chose other options, and decided to uninstall some Windows Componets to free up a bit more space. I checked Msn Explorer and Games, and the proceeded to uninstall them. After they were uninstalled, I noticed that my volume icon was gone. The next morning, I went to add/remove programs, and accidentally uninstalled Realtek AC'97. I've tried to install over and over again, but it won't work.

Bookworm tried to help me, but nothing worked. I tried to install Realtek AC'97 from the device manager, but everytime I do, it crashes my computer and I get the blue screen when my PC restarts. I tried to click continue windows normally, but that makes it go back to the blue screen. I have to click last safe log on, that's the only way my computer will work.

When I go to my control panel, and try to get the volume icon on my tray, everything is greyed out and I can't click anything. The same goes for the other tabs. It says that I don't have the drivers installed. I have a few screencaps that I'll post in a few moments as well.

Is there a way to manurally place the Realtek AC'97 files in the correct system folders? I think that's the only way they'll be able to be put there without my computer crashing.

Here are the screencaps I took.

And that's the same for the sound, audio and voice tabs.

If all else fails, I'm going to have to bring my computer to a professional. I really don't want to have to reinstall Windows XP, because I need all my files. Would there be a way for a professional to fix my sound without it having to come to that? Of course, if someone here can help me, I won't have to go to a professional at all. *crosses fingers*

Oh, and here is my system information.

If you have a Win CD try a repair install, you wont lose any data or settings go here on how to http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

it does look like a clean install but it isn't, backup any datea you need to keep.

Hope this helps
