PC refusing intermittently to come back from Standby

My PC comes back from Standby only around 40% of the time forcing me to reboot. Power setting dialogue page adjustments are not rectifying the problem. I'm worried that the constant rebooting will cause premature failure to the PC. Any suggestions welcome.
