Windows Media Player 9 problem! HLEP PLEASE!

Ok, so i was having problems with my windows media player 10...so i decided to roll back to windows player 9. I did the usual..go to add/remove programs and clicked on show updates..i clicked on windows media player 10 and it said "you will now roll back to windows media player 9" I said great...so when i was to open windows media player 9. An error message popped up saying:

Windows Media Technologies:
This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with this version of Windows. For more information, view the information at the Microsoft web site.

What the crap is this?
So i go back to the microsoft website and i try to download windows media player 10 again and samething pops up. So i try to download windows media player 9 and same deal. I can run and download windows media player 10..but when it comes to installing the same deal pops up. WHats going on?! I want Windows media player back!

Hi burtonboy158,

Unforunately as you already know XP does not support WMP 9.0 anymore, if you are desperate to get it back do a reinstall of XP and you will get it as it is the default player, but since you have upgraded to 10 it is too late now to go back with your current OS config.

Try to install WMP1O again only this time record the error message or messages you are getting then go here and have a read.

Error messages are identified by numerical IDs, such as C00D0BC2 and 800704CF

Identifing what the error is the first step to fixing the problem.
