Windows Media Player 10 Streaming Error

Whenever I attempt to play .wmv file Windows Media Video, the embedded player screen is black and I cannot get the video to load. It sometimes says 'ready'. I have installed Active X and the latest version of Windows Media Player, but every site that uses WMP streaming video won't load. Any suggestions?
