Angry No DHCP Server...Assigning Whacky IP's!!!

OK, this is REALLY getting annoying now.....

I have been trying to network XP with 98 for some time now and JUST when I thought everything was working perfectly for about 1 week BOOM she all explodes on me.

I go to connect on my XP machine to the internet and I get a NO DHCP message.

So I look at my IP address and sure enough XP has automatically assigned me a garbage IP......169.254.xxx.xxx

WHY DOES IT DO THIS????

All 6 other machines work PERFECTLY with AUTOMATICALLY detecting IP.....what made this machine so upset with me????

I have tried uninstalling the network adapter and reinstalling but to no avail.........

ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!

Problem Solved.

I used System Restore to the previous day when everything was working perfectly.

Although I still am very curious as to WHY this does this.........it has happened before and ended up just solving it by fluke.
