CD/DVD drive re-read or refreshing Thread 'CD/DVD drive problems'

My CD/DVD drives are acting strange lately. I've never experienced this problem before.
1. Every time I try to load a CD/DVD,. I notice these things:
2. After i finished use any files on any CD/DVD disc, my drive has an extremly difficult time to refreshing the files or to re-read what i just finish use.
3. I read the information on the CD/DVD disc, next i close the files and then i eject the cd.
4. When i click on the drive again without any CD/DVD it still display the content of the disc i have just pulled out.
5. When i insert another CD/DVD in the same drive it keep displaying or remembering the content of the other disc i just pulled out.
6. The other CD/DVD with other information is not recognized, The drive displays as if the other CD/DVD where still in the drive.
7. So everytime i want to read other files on another disc i
have to restart my PC over and over to be able to read the files on the other CD/DVD contents i have inserted into the CD/DVD Drive.
8.

I need to fix this quick. Please help somebody.
Again, please reply ASAP

I also have 2 DVD Drives, but i cannot use send to copy one DVD to the other DVD. I does give me a message that the drive which i want to send to does not appear in the drive list.

Please show me how to include the DVD drives in the send to copy list.

Thanks

Hi Basilon

When you click on "Send to" it won't let you send it to a DVD because Windows does not have this function, you will need to use some kind of 3rd party writing software (Pc should have come with it) IF a DVDRW drive was fitted at time of purchase.

3rd party software may include any of the following:

Roxio
Nero
Sonic Record Now
Easy CD/DVD creator
and many more

If your machine is quote slow which it seems to be,

Disable any none important startup items in Msconfig

Go to:

Start - Run - Msconfig -
Startup(top right hand corner if XP)
Should be a list with various items ticked.
Click on Disable all.
ENABLE any items to do with Anti Virus software and your internet connection.

OK & Restart when prompted, should be OK.

If not, do:

Right click on My Computer - Left click Properties -
Hardware followed by Device Manager -

Find -

DVD/CD ROM drives
Click on the + sign, which should then reveal the contents.

Depending on how many drives are available,

Right click the first one, and click on Uninstall, and do the same for any remaining.

Then, go to:

IDE ATA /ATAPI Controllers, click the + sign again.

This should reveal various things, such as Primary and secondary controllers.

Right click any secondary IDE controllers and click on uninstall, do the same for the rest.
You may have some Ultra Storage controllers, uninstal these also, and restart when prompted.

Should then be OK, report back if any further problems.

Kevin
