Remote Desktop Help Pls........
Hello,
I have 3 machines which are running following operating systems:
Machine 1 WinXP SP2 - Two NIC - One connected to ISP modem & the other 192.168.10.3
Machine 2 Win2003 - Two NIC - One disabled & the other 192.168.10.1
Machine 3 Win2003 - Two NIC - One disabled & the other 192.168.10.2
All 3 machines are connected to LINKSYS 5-Port Workgroup HUB.
I have disabled Windows Firewall setting on WinXP Machine. When, I try to remote desktop Machine 2 from WinXP machine, I get the following error.
"The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be to busy to accept new connections. It is also possible that network problems are preventing your connection".
I have enabled Remote Desktop on Machine 2 & 3 and both have static IP
address of 192.168.10.1 & 10.2. I have disabled firewall & ICS sharing on
Machine 2 or 3. What could be the problem?? Appreciate your help.
I am trying to practice lab exercise (From Train Signal) in order to prepare
for Microsoft Certification. I am feeling pretty BAD for not being able to setup Remote Desktop which by far an easy TASK. Any help from the newgroup would be of great help as well a good learning experience for ME.

One thing you did not mentioned was, Remote Desktop user access.... you see, not only you have to enable the Remote Access, but also, you need to add a user to the list of the users....for the sake of testing, create a user on PC 1 with Admin rights, then go to remote TAB on system property, Click on "Select Remote User" and add the newly created user name to the list, now go to PC 2 and try to access the PC 1.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers

for the sake of testing, just create another user...call it test1, and make sure you use a password for it too.
Cheers

I disabled firewall on all 3 machines and started RDP from XP to Machine2. Successfull. Did the same to Machine3 successfull. Opened CMD to ping each machine. Everything was a success.
Now, I can start lab exercise peacefully.
Thanks for all your help.
