Exclamation windows will run in safe mode only . . . help!

last night, after my computer told me at least ten times that it had windows updates ready and that i needed to restart my computer for them to take effect, i allowed the computer to restart.
now, since that fatal restart, the computer gets caught in a restart cycle; after the [choose OS screen], the windows loading screen follows, and then 'click': the computer restarts itself. this continues on and on without any intervention.
at the [choose OS screen], i am able to enter windows logon information through [F8], and the computer will run in safe mode, safe mode with networking, and safe mode with command line.
in safe mode, i opened [add/remove programs], enabled [show updates], and deleted the updates that i believed to have been installed the last time my computer was actually functional. i have also tinkered with BIOS and CMOS, but nothing major.

any ideas?!

Hi ... If you are able to load into safe mode ? Then just a system restore to an earlier time before the problems started and see if that helps

Try disabling "automatic restart on error". This is probably causing the infinite restarting loop. See if it prints out an error that will help diagnose the problem

1.Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

2.Click the Advanced tab.

3.Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.

4.Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

5.Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.
