Angry A stubborn icon...can't delete it!

Hi, everyone! Please help me! Some time ago I got some Word docs and I put a new folder on my desktop. I have since deleted all the content, but the folder icon is still there. I tried deleting it in safe mode...nothing. Then I tried putting an empty folder in the folder, and then I was able to erase it! NOT! It comes back everytime I do it. It stays deleted a few minutes and wham!
I am sooo frustrated... please help me?

Do you have spybot search and destroy? Its a free spyware program, and it has data shredding capabilities (under the advanced part of the program.) Try using that.

Another thing that might happen is that you might have the folder name located be the default in a save dialog, if you are using firefox or IE, try downloading something and making sure that the folder in question is not selected.

I tried renaming, but it won't let me either. I already ran all kinds of spyware.
I will try the advanced spyware and get back to you...

Send a message via Yahoo to snakeeater15
find out where it is, and use the command prompt to delete it.

To do what snakeeater said, go to start, run..., and then type cmd. in the black box that pops up, navigate to your desktop using the 'cd' command (example 'cd "C:\Documents and settings\userName\Desktop" '. once you get to the desktop remove the folder by using the rd command 'rd folderName'

If that doesn't work try downloading moveOnBoot

I tried the C prompt but ut tells me it can't find the file on the desktop.
I used moveonboot and it also told me : "...the file is locked or does not exist"... now what??

if the files that you originally had in there are still in your pc, find them and delete them, after you back them up, of course.

why the hell is it bothering you so damn much anyways?
or, if you cannot delete it, HIDE IT!!! so it will be out of sight, off the little ole mind!!!

Well, none of the files are there anymore and every "fix" program tells me it can't be found. And... I cannot hide it either! I have the same folder in my documents and it won't let me delete it either. And... I want to remove it because it really bothers me, it takes up space in my already crouded desktop, and because it shouldn't be a problem to delete a dang folder, which makes me think something is wrong with my system... please, anybody?
