Windows Media Center 2005

I recently acquired a version of Windows XP: Windows Media Center 2005 and am a little weary on installing it. I have an Xbox 360 so I am very eager to use the Media Center with it, but i'm not familiar with this product. So I guess I have two main questions, what are your opinions on this OS and also if i make a restore point on my current version of windows XP home, would it be possible to revert to it after I install the new version of windows?
Thanks in advance

Windows Media Center is an actual operating system. I think in order to install it you will need to get rid of home, so no, it is not possible to revert back to home after installing WMC.

I personally haven't used it, but I've heard its pretty good, but sometimes a little shaky on networking and domains

Wmc 2005

This is running off the Windows XP Pro build, only difference is, you can watch TV.

I'm unsure if you can revert back to it by doing a system restore
(Unlike SP2 back to SP1)
If you want to go back to XP Home, you may need to reinstall your Pc using any restore disk /cds you might have got with it.

Try and contact Microsoft with these kind of questions, at least then you will get near enough a 100% accurate answer.

Hi, I have a WMC 2005 Edition. It is the same Windows XP Pro version with TV option... Media is a software added to the xp os JUST TO WATCH tv. Also it runs very smooth and actually some improvment have taken place when we talk about speed. It blazes!!!... Of course, Microsoft added the EnableSuPrefetch parameter and some other registry keys... Same ENGINIER, DIFFERENT GASOLINE. I would recommend you to give it a try. Actually you dont have to wipe out you actual OS... just create a partition in the HDD and install it right there... I'm sure you are gonna love it. Is faster and better than XP Home for sure!!

Hope this Help
