Major XP problem! Display drivers deactivated...
Ok, yesterday I did a very idiotic thing and deactivated both the nvidia display AND the vgasave display. Now windows XP boots on a black screen and I cannot change the display from there.
Safe mode does not work, nor does "restore old settings that worked" (since mine work too. I just don't see anything) and all the other options don't work either...
I tried finding a solution through DOS but win.ini and system.ini don't contain any relevant settings.
Do you know any way, besides format-reinstall, that could reactivate my display?

No.
Safe mode loads all those drivers (the ones it shows on the screen) and when they are complete, windows start but the screen does not change. I still see the drivers it loaded but I am in windows (I managed to shut down the pc by using alt-f4 that why I'm sure)

Deactivated XP Display Drivers, need help
OK, I just did the exact same thing, which was pretty dumb. Since this thread is over three years old and has no answer thought, I should probably restate the problem.
I deactivated both of the display drivers in Windows XP and now when I start Windows I can't see anything, but it is still running. I do see the XP logo at startup though. Like Historian before me, safe mode does not work for me either.
Also, I am away from home for the week and won't have access to my XP cd until I get back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I tried that but it didn't work, as Historian and I stated before.

Display Drivers
You will have to repair the Windows installation via the XP Installation CD. I'm pretty sure there is no other way of doing it.

When you boot up in either safe mode or normal mode, try pushing control, alt, delete (just once) to see if the task manager opens up. If the task manager opens up, then you can run a new task (under file) - type in (control sysdm.cpl) - this will open up the system properties windows and allow you to get to the device manager, where you can enable the video driver

No display whatsoever? Or just after you get past the DOS-style text fun?
What if, assuming he doesn't have integrated video, he pulls the card, starts up, shuts down, and replaces the card?
Windows recognizes it as new, sets it up like he was just upgrading.
Maybe, maybe not. Either way, a dumb thing to do for sure! (Disabling the display, that is.)
