Changing Start-Up Page Appearance

How do you change the appearance of the start-up screen? where you choose what user-profile you want to enter.

I didn't think it was possible but a while ago a user posted a picture of his and it used different colours to the usual blue.

I can't remember who posted it but I would love to find out how he did it.

Thanks

Probably some sort of theme skin for XP, as far as I know there is no option to do this within XP itself.

Open Regedit. go to Current Users/Defaul/Control panel/ Desktop... look out for the wallpaper registry key on the right side and change its value to: "C:/Windows/mylogo.bmp" no quotes

Take the picture you wanna set as logon wallpaper, change its name to "mylogo.bmp" and save it in C:/Windows..

Log off to see changes

Are you sure about that??? I just did it and the logon page didn't change.
Also when you advise people to edit their registry I think it would be a good idea to tell them to back up their registry before altering anything, just in case they make an error in there.

EDIT: Neither changing original wallpaper or wallpaper key in the registry changed the logon screen

that change in the registry do not affect anything at all, actually is just to set the logon wallpaper and if you don't write the right info the wallpaper won't show up but no error will be display. you need to be in the classic ligin view to see the changes

well mate I dropped the bmp file in there (c:/windows) it was named mylogo.bmp, the registry value was changed to mylogo.bmp from wallpaper1.bmp, the change to the "original wallpaper" key removed the colour from the taskbar, the change to wallpaper key set the desktop but the logon screen remained XP default

EDIT: I know that if you drop a oemlogo.bmp into system32 folder it will display the picture in "My Computer" > properties

) Navigate to:

HKEY USERS\ .DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop

2) Double click the wallpaper value, and type in the full path of your image and the filename.

3) To tile the image set "TileWallPaper" to 1

4) To Stretch the wallpaper set "WallPaperStyle" to 2

5) Close the registry editor and the changes will take place when you Log off.

Hope this help now

Hasn't worked yet, so I'll show you what I have done.

Firstly I tried it in my profile, which is an administrator profile. It changed my user profiles desktop background instead of the welcome screens.

Then I went into the main Administrator account through safe mode and did the same thing, it didn't work there at all.

Please, listen....
(that picture shows KEY_CURRENT USER) is not correct

navigate to:

HKEY USERS\ .DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop...
look out for the "wallpaper" (NOT ORIGINAL WALLPAPER) registry key on the right side and change its value to: "C:/Windows/mylogo.bmp" no quotes...

Copy the picture you wanna set as logon wallpaper to C:/Windows, change its name to "mylogo.bmp"...

Log off to see changes

By the way, I need to learn how to load up pictures to this page so I can give better support... Show me how
