eDonkey LOWID problems

I recently downloaded eDonkey, and I've been having problems connecting to servers and acquiring fast connections. eDonkey tells me I have a Low ID, which would account for these problems. I have consulted the eDonkey page on Low ID, and the Emule page on allowing the program to connect from behind a router, but I haven't been able to fix the problem. I have freed up ports 4662(TCP) and 4672(UDP) for use with eDonkey, but I still get the "LOWID" message. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

By the way, I am running Windows XP Pro, I have a cable internet connection, and I'm using a LinkSys BEFSR41 router for my network.

I meant to put this in software and useful utilities -- I'm new at this. I'll rephrase the question:

I'm having problems freeing up ports on my networked computer (for p2p software). I put in a service in the internet connection advanced settings, but this didn't free up the port. Any suggestions?

I'm running Xp pro, with a Linksys router and a cable internet connection.
