I have been a few days trying to sort this to no avail.
New HDD, Clean install of winxp without speakers plugged in, added and updated AVG anti-virus, updated to sp2,
plug speakers in, no sound
. checked device manager and yellow exclam against C-Media AC97 audio device...properties...Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)...
I have tried uninstalling, re-installing from windows update, motherboard cd that came with pc and asrock and c-medias websites for latest drivers...no joy
have tried deleting the device and re-installing, checking bios to ensure wudio is on either auto or enabled and it is...checked forums and googled it for hours and cant seem to find a solution...
dxdiag says there is an error under the audio tab...
can anyone help ?
