Thanks for suggestion sp100 but I had already unticked auto arrange. I have searched for files with NVIDIA or nView in title and deleted what I found. I still have an icon on my Control Panel called nView desktop manager and it contains six files , NVIEW.DLL, NVSHELL.DLL, DMCPL.EXE, NWIZ.EXE, NVTUICPL.CPL and IEXPLORE.EXE. I have unticked the enable
box. I ran msconfig and in Startup I found 2 files, NVCpl and NVMCTRAY and unticked them, but no change, the desktop icons jump back to where they have been placed. I ran regedit but I am not good enough to change anything without advice. I did see a path to what may be NVIDIA files, HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version. I just want to get rid of the extra stuff that I downloaded when I updated the GeForce driver.
Can you suggest anything else?
Regards
