Problem using file sharing

Hi,

I'm a newbie in the use of Windows XP.
I've got a Win2K Pro server machine which is sharing files and folders. What I want to do is giving access to this server using a Win XP client. It seems to be quite easy.
Nevertheless, I'm running into troubles and I'm wondering if WinXP can see machines which are not situated in the same IP range. (for example my XP runs on 193.52.xxx.xxx and my local machine runs ons 172.18.xxx.xxx).

I'm also wondering if it exists an option to allow such a thing.

What is troubleshouting for me, is that I've already got an XP machine which is running using such a configuration).

Any help will be greatly appreciated

First of all u have to create a workgroup to be identified too and u want to make each computer a name

I've solved my problem.
It was a problem with NetBEUI. Under XP you have to install it manually otherwise it doesn't work properly !

if both computers are on the same network, it shouldn't matter. Or, is one at home and one at work?
