Unhappy Can't Install Benq Monitor

WEll, I have a Qbic model from Soltek with a Solteck motherboard running as a little media center machine. The MB has a little VGA adapter plugged into the MB but the XP install never finds a real monitor, it just installs the VIA display drivers. No monitor shows up on the in the device manager. ALSO, whan I select 'Control Panel - Display - Advanced - Monitor' the Properties Tab is not highlighted so how can I install the Monitor Driver that Benq has provided? It is meant to install only in this way. There is no real installer on the driver disc. Even trying to use "install hardware" with xp and attempting to select "other hardware devices" does not work because "monitor" never shows up as a possible device.

Try "Control Panel -> Add Hardware",

Click: "Next"
Click: "Yes, I have already installed the hardware."
Click: "Next"
Click: "Add a new hardware device" (The last option in the list)
Click: "Next"
Choose: "Install ...manually from a list."
Click: "Next"
Click: "Next"
Click: "Have Disk"
When the requester opens, navigate to the CDROM and the folder containing the *.inf file for the Monitor.

In theory, it should then install the driver.
