Updating WinXP without Internet Connection

Hi,

I have a 2nd PC with Windows XP installed, but I only have a far less than 56K modem connection, and I'm worried upgrading to SP1 will take 1 million years.

Does anyone know of anywhere I can download the necessary updates for WindowsXP, to enable me to transfer them to my 2nd PC? I understand that by doing this I'll have to download the FULL upgrade, because the computer will not know what it needs to update, and what it doesn't. My main computer is luckily enough to have a LAN connection, so this would not be a problem.

I'd be grateful if anyone knew of somewhere I could get it from.
Cheers.
J.

If you go to the MS site for XP SP1 you can download the full network redis version of SP1 - its about 160mb, but that can be copied onto a CD or put over a network to update non-internet connected PCs.

As regards the other security updates, you'll have to slog it through using a 56k connection I'm afraid. - thats why I moved to The Netherlands and am now on 130kb/s cable

Thanks for that.

You moved all the way to The Netherlands just to download some security updates! Wow! That's dedication for a security tight system......

One of the major perks put it that way- you try getting cable in the South of England, - never going to happen!

Mind you, moving might also have something to do with Dutch women too! - one of whom is reading this now and laughing...

What can I say? - I'm in The Netherlands with my Dutch girlfried whom I met whilst travelling for a year in Australia (I actually employed her to work in the backpackers I was managing in Sydney!) - and my brother is currently living in Seattle with his American girlfriend - truly an international family in the making!

Going to make the trip over to the US as soon as I have some cash....I hear Seattle is a pretty nice place.....assuming I don't spend all my pay on PC stuff first........
