Video card problem

Hi,

I recently got an Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 420, and installed it into the AGP slot of my computer. I then plugged the monitor into it and booted up, and everything worked fine. Then I downloaded the newest drivers for the card from Nvidia, and installed them, and I had to restart the computer. When the computer booted up, the monitor did not turn on (it didn't get any signal). I then plugged the monitor into my motherboard's onboard video, it didn't work. So I removed the card, plugged the monitor into the onboard video and it booted up fine and the monitor came on. I uninstalled the driver, plugged the card back in, the monitor into the card...and it didn't work. Any ideas on what the problem might be or how I could get the card to work?

The computer is running Windows XP Pro.

installing new drivers for your video card in windows will have nothing to do with the ability of the video card to post when your switch the PC on - that is a different problem....just concidence I think.....

You didn't by any chance attempt to flash the bios on the video card itself did you?

I would suggest trying the video card in another PC if you can, to see if it boots. If it does not, then there is a good chance that the video card has failed, and needs to be replaced...

Let me know how you get on.....

I know, I didn't think that would have anything to do with it....and no I didn't try to do anything to the bios. Damnit. I'll go try it in a different computer.

Tried it in another computer, the monitor didn't turn on and it just beeped like 20 times. That's the last piece of Nvidia crap I'll buy (second time an Nvidia card has failed on me - and I've never had problems with an ATi card).

that'll be a video card problem then - no other answer for it really.....just coincidence that it died the time you re-booted with new drivers......was it a brand new card - what make?

It was relatively new, hardly used (out of another comp), it was a GeForce 4 MX 420 AGP w/ 64 MB.
