Unhappy computer keeps freezing

i installed norton anitvirus 2006 two days before i had verizon fiber optic internet professionally installed...the guy installed a d-link wireless usb card into my computer.

after he left...the computer began to freeze...everything, mouse, can't even ctrl alt delete out of it. it would freeze after being on for 10 min without use....but if i actually use it...it could go 30 min to 1 hr without freezing.

i called verizon and they said, he didn't do much, but configure the comp for wireless internet...they said he didn't install anything.

norton support says that they haven't experienced people asking them about comp freezes...they told me to uninstall it and see if it still freezes...it does.

can anyone one help me please?! the comp is only 1 yr old or so. it's a PowerSpec, 512 mb, 40 gb.

i have Adaware personal SE and i always update it and run it...so that isn't the problem...i also update and run the norton 2006 anitvirus...and no viruses were found.

someone please help!

thanks

one question why use Norton its a resource hog, why not use something like AVG Free, its as good as the leading brands and yet its not a resource hog.
